Week 7 Post

At the Simplified Ski Racing office, the staff would have multiple computers to manage programs and other files that are needed to successfully run the business. The operating system would be very important for coordinating all the activities from different resources on the computer. In order to use the same operating system on all the computers, they would most likely have to be the same size and make, to ensure that the same system would be compatible on all of them.

The user interface would be important to think about because it controls how you enter data and instructions and how information is displayed on the screen. I would want a graphical user interface with menus and visual images because this would be the easiest for the staff to use. A command-line interface might be confusing to the staff because they would need to know the commands and keys used.

I would also want a multitasking operating system so that users can work on more than one program and one time. This would make things easier because staff members may need to have an e-mail program as well as the Web browser open at the same time. While doing this, the active program would be in the foreground and the others would be in the background.
